About HCHS

For the over fifty years, Holy Cross High School has maintained a focus on our mission: “Empowered by the Gospel message of Jesus”. In addition to our commitment to academic excellence, Holy Cross is dedicated to being Sacramental, Catechetical, and Transformational. Founded in 1957, Holy Cross is a coeducational Catholic High School serving the Diocese of Trenton, the Catholic Parishes of Burlington County and the surrounding areas of South Jersey. Holy Cross is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary with a Gala Event on November 17, 2007, the third generation of Holy Cross students is now attending our high school. Many Holy Cross alumni are also Holy Cross teachers, parents and even Holy Cross grandparents. We are blessed with community commitment and grateful to our extended school family for this level of support.

We occupy a beautiful 78 acre campus located on the southbound side of U.S. Route 130 in Delran, New Jersey, approximately 25 minutes from downtown Philadelphia, six miles south of Burlington and eight miles north of Camden in a convenient suburban setting. Most of our students come from Burlington County, some journeying more than thirty miles one-way daily. We call forty-one townships home and worship with our families from twenty-two parishes

Holy Cross is a first-rate, college preparatory, non-profit, high school incorporating the religious beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church into the educational standards of New Jersey. Each one of our students, teachers, administrators, and support staff is a separate person blessed by God, and therefore an integral part of our community. We hold high academic standards for our students as we challenge them to develop their abilities. Almost every year we honor National Merit Semi-Finalists and Commended Students. Of our graduating seniors, 99% go on to further their education at a four year or two year college.

The Holy Cross High School Community believes it is in the forefront in education in Burlington County. Many bold and cutting edge changes in education are occurring at Holy Cross. We are especially excited about these innovations:

• Our collegiate scheduling offers a student-centered, active learning environment to every one of our students. Students actively engaged in their education are better problem-solvers and begin to understand the benefits of life-long learning.

• The Tablet PC Program allows our freshmen to use a personal computing device in a learning environment. The concept of One-to-One computing will allow a student access to learning resources “Any Time, Any Where” during the school day.

These changes in our approach to education will help Holy Cross students to be better prepared for the 21st century college environment of research and presentation while making a commitment to innovation and technology in the classroom.

Our thirty-nine sports teams provide training, camaraderie, good health and exercise habits as well as discipline to nearly half of our student body. In addition, the arts and sciences are enhanced by the many co-curricular clubs whose student members participate in weekly, monthly and yearly presentations and competitions. Spirit Clubs and Mission Ministries promote school and community involvement. The members of the Student Leadership Team attend conferences bringing new leadership skills to the school community. All are sources of school pride, involvement and belonging to their members and fans.

In any given school year, you will find up to fifty clubs engaging students, teachers, coaches and mentors. Throughout the school year relatively few students leave school at dismissal time. Most stay more than one afternoon per week as they develop their individual interests, while growing as young adults building friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

While being innovative, we continue to observe many of the traditions that have made Holy Cross great over the past fifty years. From our Opening Liturgy to Senior Class Night, we are happy to continue with the activities that have helped build the spirit of our community. Our stakeholders are the keystone to our success! It is because of their support that we enter our next fifty years guaranteeing that Holy Cross offers a quality education rooted in faith-based values.
